Students will benefit from the study of American history in three main ways. First, they will acquire knowledge of key events, ideas, systems, and people throughout our history from a wide variety of places, backgrounds and cultures. Second, they will develop and practice important social and critical thinking skills such as: problem solving, working collaboratively, public speaking, analyzing information, and creative thinking. Lastly, students will gain and further develop the ability to apply the knowledge and skills they acquire in class to evaluate current trends and situations. They will also be able to approach these situations in new ways and apply creative alternatives in thinking to events throughout their lives.

“I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him.”
-Abraham Lincoln
